Reading & information about the therapy methods I use:

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Embracing your Demons: An Overview of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)  by Russ Harris
  • The Happiness Trap website by Russ Harris, a popular writer and trainer on ACT concepts, has a resource page with free handouts and book chapters.
  • For a basic overview of ACT, read the material published by the Association of Contextual Behavioral Science on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Couples & Relationship Counseling Methods
  • Non Violent Communication is an awareness practice that helps people communicate their needs and make positive requests in service of increased harmony and connection.
  • ACT with Love: You can read the first chapter of Russ Harris' book for couples using ACT concepts and tools.
  • The research and therapy method developed by John and Julie Gottman is outlined well here: Gottman Method Couples Therapy
  • For information on Attachment theory, and to find out more about your own personal attachment style, I recommend the book and website Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller.

Behavior Therapies
  • For information about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, see the Academy of Cognitive Therapy's Consumer Resources page and the article What is Cognitive Behavior Therapy? published online at the Beck Institute.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a treatment with components and skills to encourage emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.
  • If you'd like to learn more about Exposure treatment for anxiety, the International OCD Foundation has published an excellent outline here: Exposure & Response Prevention Treatment.
